WagonCrawl V2 — Caravan Playtest

Lead a small caravan through an ASCII wilderness shaped by changing weather, day and night, and the cost of every mile. Follow roads, cross water, visit towns, and keep your people fed, watered, and rested as the world grows around your journey.

Find local work, choose a destination, and decide how to get there. Contracts can branch around your crew, passengers, supplies, and earlier decisions. Roadside encounters stay where you found them; urgent events pause time so you can read and choose.

New in 0.2.2

Autosave, Continue, and save export help protect your journey. Completed commissions now earn lasting caravan upgrades and build toward an ending, with the option to keep traveling afterward. Music and effects accompany the road, and master mute also covers narration.

Your first journey

  1. Find work at a nearby town, farm, or roadside site.
  2. Prepare your caravan: check food, water, rest, and the supplies in your hold.
  3. Select a job in your journey panel, follow its destination marker, and see it through.

Playing

Free desktop browser playtest. Keyboard and mouse required; fullscreen recommended. Use WASD or the arrow keys to move, hold Shift to speed time, and press Space to pause. I opens the hold, O opens journeys, and K opens the journal. The Controls button in the game frame has the full guide.

Your journey autosaves. F5 writes a separate manual checkpoint; F9 or Escape opens the journey menu for Continue, loading, and save export/import. R no longer resets the world. F10 opens audio controls. Saves are stored in this browser; clearing site data removes them, so export a save file if you want to keep a copy or move browsers.

  • Could you find your destination?
  • Did supplies and travel choices matter?
  • Where were you confused or bored?

This is a new version of the caravan experiment. The original Wagon Crawl remains available. More games and projects at roll4d4.com.
